Self Reflection

1) Did this course meet your expectations? Explain?
**This course had a lot of great idea that i will be able to take with me and use in my classroom. I learned how to do many things in this class like create a BLOG! lol yeah but all that we got out of the class will be able to follow us even if we cant use it in the classroom we can use it in some aspect of our lives.

2) Why do you think this course should be required for all ED majors?
**Probably because everyone needs technology now a days, it is a major part of our society today. everything is moving up in the technology world and technology is becoming a big part of the classrooms too.

3) How will you implement technology into your future classroom?
**I will try to implement technology any way i can. sometimes it makes teachers lives much easier it just takes a little extra effort to work with.

1. What was the assignment?
** For this assignment we had to make a video and upload it to a editing website to edit our video. it was fun but we had a lot of trouble with the uploading part all of the websites we were offered to use did not want to work for us. but the filming part was fun.

2. What did you like dislike about the assignment?
** I liked the assignment but it was just the process and the websites not working for us that made it hard to work with.

3. How would you compare/contrast the web pages?
** The websites seemed like they would have been great if they were able to upload our video and work on them. i really wanted to try and see what our video would have looked like

4. How would you use this as an educator in the future?
** We decided to do it as a puppet show because we wanted to be able to keep it and take it into our classroom. so at least now we will be able to have it on file and if we come across the boy who cried wolf story we could play it for our students and showed them what we made.

Weebly Web Page

a.) What was the assignment?
** The assignment that we were given was to create a professional portfolio on a website called weebly.

b.) What did you like/dislike about the assignment and the weebly.com software?
** I think that the weebly software was a great one to use. If i had to say something that i disliked maybe it would be that i wished that the items we added to the page could be moved around freely. I guess more freedom to move things around and set them up the way we wanted to have them on the website.

c.) How would you compare/contrast a webpage like this with a blog?
** I think i like this a little more than i like a blog because i had some difficulty working on my blog. On the blog some of the things that i wanted to put up did not want to work, but on the weebly it was easier to add pictures and other things you wanted to you page.

d.) How would you use this as an educator in the future?
** You could use this if you were applying for a job your potential employer could go to your web page and find all the information they needed about you. you could also use it in the classroom with your students and have them create their own website (upper grade maybe)

Elluminate Live

1.) Describe the distance Ed tool Elluminate Live.
** Elluminate Live is a distance education tool (software) that allows for students and people from around the world to participate in a class online. It enables people from all around the world to come together in one online space to conduct a class or lesson through the means of a headset. When you are on the program you cannot see the other people who are participating in the class but you can talk, hear, and chat with them.

2.) Explain the activity re listening and interacting with guest speakers world-wide?
** We had the chance to use elluminate live in our ed480 class to meet online with out two guest speakers. i found the experience to be very rewarding and informational. I got to attend a presentation from the comfort of my own bedroom. in the beginning i experienced some problems because the head set that i had was not working properly and i could not talk, but at least i could hear all that was happening during the presentation so i guess it was ok. The other things that are cool about elluminate live is that there is a chat where the participants can chat while in the session so even if you cant talk you can still chat and everyone can see what you are saying. There is also a white board that you can add pictures to, type larger, basically use it as a white board as if you were in a regular class. You can also add powerpoint and even show websites to the rest of the participants.

3.) What were the positives and the negatives of elluminate?
** I think some of the negatives might be that if the connection sucks then the whole experience sucks, and if your headset is not working then you would not be able to talk during the presentation. the positive is that people from all around the world can get together and talk or even have class online.

4.) How might you see yourself using that in the classroom?
** it would be a good thing to try. maybe in the classroom if you know any teachers off island or in other schools you can have your classes meet online for a presentation.

Language Learners and Tech

1.) How was your experience of presenting using slideshare?
** I found it to be fun because everyone had access to my powerpoint at the time that i was presenting it to the class. and the extra links added to the powerpoint were easy for everyone to access.

2.) What were the challenges?
** Some challenges that i came across was that because i use Microsoft 2007 powerpoint and some of my slides got distorted when i up-loaded my powerpoint to slideshare.

3.) what was helpful?
** The fact that it is online and everyone has access to it and can all be looking at it at the same time.

4.) if you had the chance to do it over what would you do differently?
** I was satisfied with my presentations i think maybe i would just practice more before i present it to the class

5.) any other feed back?
**Everyone did a great job during the presentation!! i loved being able to use the links at my own convenience and being able to work at my own speed.

Today we got to look at different websites that we could use to create different puzzles for our students. It was fun because now we have a lot more tools that we could use to help us when we become teachers. I liked it because it was simple and all we had to do was think of the words to input. Because it is so fast teachers could even use it as a filler, for example if your bilingual teacher is absent the teacher could just go online and create a quick puzzle for the students. This helps students learn because you could make it meaningful and connect it to your lessons in the class and what a better way for students to learn then through a puzzle they love to play games.
